A Veteran’s Day derecho caused wind storms and tornados that resulted in 105 reports of wind damage across the upper midwest. A derecho is a widespread, long-lived, straight-line wind storm associated with a fast-moving group of severe thunderstorms. States affected include Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa. Meteorologists estimate that 15 tornados formed in this outbreak. 10 tornados were confirmed by the National Weather Service in Iowa, including an EF2 tornado and a pair of EF1 tornados.
